The Foundation

The Royal House of Montenegro is a private foundation under Belgian law (fondation privée), constituted by notarial deed on 5 May 2026 and registered with the Belgian Crossroads Bank for Enterprises on 21 May 2026 under number 1037.648.293. Its registered office is at 480 Avenue Louise, 1050 Brussels, Belgium.

The Foundation is registered under the legal name ROYAL HOUSE OF MONTENEGRO and is referred to on this website as the Royal House of Montenegro Foundation.

Purpose

The Royal House of Montenegro Foundation preserves and promotes the historical and cultural heritage of Montenegro and its Royal House, and advances philanthropic, humanitarian and cultural initiatives in Montenegro and beyond.

The Foundation is the institutional vehicle of the Royal House of Montenegro, the House of Petrović-Njegoš, which reigned over Montenegro from 1696 to 1918. It carries the House's charitable, cultural and representative activities in a transparent, non-profit legal form, and holds the administrative services of the Dynastic Orders.

Governance

The Foundation is administered by a board of directors (conseil d'administration). Its Chairman and managing director (administrateur délégué) is Boris Petrovitch Njegosh, Hereditary Prince of Montenegro, Grand Duke of Grahovo and Zeta. The board also includes two Deputy Chairmen, who serve respectively as Grand Chancellor and Deputy Grand Master of the Dynastic Orders. The Foundation's secretariat operates from Brussels.
